First Wordless Wednesday

Prepping night

Well my package from my local cloth diaper store Simple Wonders just came in. I loved that she came by to not only give me a demo of the diapers she had but to actually come by and drop off the package herself since she was in the area. I'm so very excited so I'm staying up late till I can put the diapers into the dryer or hang them from the wash so this fluff mail night has become a prepping night since I'm just so super excited just to get these on the twins.

G-force next to the new fluff.

What I ordered was eight softbum shells with 24 pods and mini pods and 4 fuzzibunz. Before any of the new additions came I had already started a wash of my small stash. After getting all the velcro on the laundry tabs and the small stash was removed from the washer. I dumped everything into my top loader. Now I didn't add them into the stash that was already being cleaned while I got the fluff mail ready I've heard something about chemicals in new fluff could ruin the absorbency I'm not sure if this is true or not but I don't want to find out.

Now I did a four stages before going into the drying stage. A pre-wash in cold water with no detergent to get out all the poop out followed by a hot wash in super clean or for my washer ultra clean at this stage I leave the lid open giving me the opportunity once it is filled to change the setting from a cold rinse to a warm one. Followed by one more rinse to hopefully get all the suds out.
So prewash, wash, rinse, and rinse is my washing routine. For the detergent I use to wash the diapers is All Free and Clear. When I told my husband that I wanted to cloth diaper and that we would be needing a different detergent for the diapers then what we use for the clothes and the clothes of the twins. He immediately started to research about detergents that can be used for the diapers I don't know where he found it but his searched led him to All Free and Clear. So far with the smaller stash it was working on keeping the stink out. So I've yet to try out a striping of the diapers as of yet.

After the wash is all done I put all the pockets and anything else that needs to be hanged to dry separated and placed on top of the laundry sorting station. I've yet to sun these, so I'm not sure how well that will go since we live in the Pacific Northwest and with the rain I will have to try to sun them by a window, but I've bought a used diaper with a poop stain and was able to get rid of the stain not by sunning just by using equal parts milk and white distilled vinegar and letting it stand for a few minutes.

Gforce and Abomb the Start of Fluff Bums

Well the twins are 6 weeks old now and between feedings, diapers changes, laundry, and total exhaustion. I've started to cloth diaper them a few days after both their umbilical cords fell off and at the time that I started I could only use two of the g-diapers which I wasn't too much of a fan. Between myself and my husband we had so many blowouts and leaks that we didn't get the chance to use the shell we also had the trouble with their legs being so skinny the thigh opening was so loose on both the boys. We also didn't have the newborn gdiapers and couldn't afford to buy any before or when they where ready for the cloth. Every time I put on the diaper the g pants did not seem right I wasn't sure if it would hold everything in. So for leaks and blowouts the g-diaper has not been working for us though there has been improvement from when we first started it They've just hit eight pounds each fitting into the rest of the diapers that I got from my sister-in-law. I do like all the colors that they come in and the fact that is a hybrid only for the sole reason as to start with the cloth diapers. I've had a chance to try it out with the twins I like being able to use an AI2 system.

I've also been able to tryout the thirsties , a pocket diaper. Since I started using it I've yet to experience any leaks or blowouts. But with twins I'm afraid it may not be useful I may have to buy additional diapers. Just like disposable supposed to be used once and then washed. So the way to determine that I'm going to buy some of more pocket diapers so I can see how more will work with the twins.

Along with the thirsties and g diapers I've been able to make my own diapers 1 a pocket the other 2 were covers. The covers are uses the disposable g inserts along with the a kissaluvs. Abomb is wearing the pocket on the left and Gforce is wearing the cover on the right. (Their little pet names given by my sister-in-law, which suits them both very well.)
